2019—2022 ·Cameraless chromogenic print
I lived in Austin for a brief time and became stir crazy not being able to create anything physically. Digital photography has no tactile or physical quality to it, so I wanted to see if I could manipulate black and white paper with light and developer to make new colors.
It didn’t turn out the way I intended, but it never does.
Through my research I learned of the chromaskedasic process, which means “light scattering” in Greek. The acid and base play off each other and the silver gelatin particles, creating different-sized pigments which reflect back different colors.
