Artist Statement

As the son of first generation immigrants, I grew up with a lack of context, as I was raised in a kind of in-between state. The traditions of my parents were frequently combined with other cultures creating an amalgamation of Eastern and Western mindsets. They came from a place with traditions I hardly knew and only later would experience and understand. Having little to contextualize myself meant more freedom to pursue whatever I wanted, hence working with any medium or instrument which interests me.

After a range of near fatal illnesses, I spent years living an isolating existence. I think I would have been a pretty decent artist just pulling from the first generation experience, but cancer and three hip replacements by the time I was 30 has lent to a lifetime of pontification.
